What is Hallow?

We review what the Hallow app is and how we can help you on your faith journey!

November 17, 2025

Hallow is a prayer and meditation app that combines the peace and stillness of meditation with the spiritual growth of contemplative prayer. It features over 10,000 audio-guided prayer sessions led by world-class talents, such as Dr. Enrique Rojas, Father Matias Jurado, Jacky Bracamontes, Father Pablo Lopez, Fray Sergio and many others!

Hallow has its roots in the tradition of the Catholic Church, but has been created to welcome users of all backgrounds. Hallow presents the Bible in its "navigation tab" toward the bottom of the screen and many of the sessions are Scripture-based, such as Father Serra's Daily Homilies.

Don't know where to start? Open the app and tap the "Search" icon at the bottom of the screen to search for the "Introductory Challenge." This will introduce you to the different styles of prayer and meditation that we have in the app.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions!

Why the name "Hallow"?

Why did you choose this name? What does it mean?

One of the types of prayer offered by Hallow is Lectio Divina, where the user reads a passage of Scripture or a prayer, identifies a word or phrase that caught their attention, and continues to meditate on that word or phrase. The first time Hallow CEO and co-founder Alex prayed through lectio divina, he was meditating on the Lord's Prayer, and 'hallow' was the word that caught his attention from the phrase 'hallowed be thy name'. Moreover, the word itself means "sanctified," and that's the core of Hallow's mission: to let God sanctify our lives, and to help others do the same.
