HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE STUDY

Every Wednesday

7pm-8pm

At St. Matthew Center

Many of you know that recently 8 of our young people embarked on a pilgrimage to Indianapolis for the National Catholic  Youth Conference (NCYC). This brief—albeit mighty—meeting of young Catholics from our Nation inspired our younger brothers and sisters to return with a great deal of zeal, the fruit of which is clear: they/we want to know more about how

God has revealed Himself to us in the pages of Sacred Scripture. The Bible contains one of the fonts of God’s Revelation of Himself to humanity. Therein, God offers to His people the history of His Life and Works, and the path by which human salvation was won: The Bible—the Sacred Scriptures—documents the many stories from Creation to Redemption to the Second Coming of Christ, which lay forth the way by which humanity is saved through, with, and in Jesus Christ.

Happily, the return of our young people from NCYC has given us pause—as a result of their pleading—to take more seriously our need to provide more focused, relevant, and authentic study of Sacred Scripture.

The Bible strongly encourages such an undertaking, with key verses like Joshua 1:8 (“do not let this book...depart from your lips. Recite it by day and by night, that you may carefully observe all that is written in it”) and Colossians 3:16 (“Let the word of

Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”) serving as inspiring bookends to our study of the Word of God.

We look forward to the planning ahead that will pave the way for us to delve more deeply into the Word of God: please pay

close attention to our parish bulletin and online social media for announcements regarding the pillars within our Catholic

tradition of Word, Worship, Community, and Service. We welcome your ideas, hopes and desires: please contact Fr. Clarke with

such insights at frclarke@ptd.net.
